Scholarships and Loan Forgiveness Courtesy of SEMADecember 2nd, 2014 by Rachel Sheelam
At 4 Wheel Parts, we are a team of dedicated automotive enthusiasts. We strive to provide the 4×4 community with top quality parts and accessories as we manufacture and distribute everything from ATV accessories to Jeep and truck tire and wheel packages and outdoors survival gear. We are technicians, advertisers, marketers and engineers, but more than that, we are part of the automotive community. We work alongside truck and Jeep clubs, charity events and 4×4 and off-road magazine editors across the globe to provide our customers with an experience of industry prowess far beyond the parts we install on their vehicles.
We would like to invite you to join that community as an enthusiast, leader and innovator, and SEMA has a fantastic incentive for you.
A college diploma opens the door to a whole new world of opportunities, but it comes with a catch: student loan debt. However, if you are pursuing higher education aimed toward a career in the automotive industry or if you are currently employed by a SEMA member company, you have the opportunity kick your loan repayment into high gear through the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund or the SEMA Loan Forgiveness Program. The deadline to enter either program is April 1, 2015.
SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund:
Every year, SEMA awards student applicants with scholarships ranging from $2,000-$3,000, with $5,000 going to the top student. In order to be eligible to win the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, you must currently be enrolled in a full-time program of study at an accredited university, college or vocational/technical program in the U.S. studying one of the following:
- Information Technology
- Race Car Driver/Crew
SEMA also requires applicants to have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be on the path to an automotive aftermarket or related career field, remain enrolled as a full-time student for the first full semester, quarter or term following receipt of the award and have completed a minimum of 50 credits for a 4-year degree plan or 25 credits for a 2-year community college or vocational/technical program.
If you are attending Ohio Technical College, you are eligible to win a full-tuition scholarship valued up to $29,400.

SEMA Loan Forgiveness Program:
If you’ve already graduated and begun your career in the aftermarket industry but are staring a mountain of debt in the face, your automotive community is here to lend you a hand. SEMA has been dedicated to helping recent graduates get off to a successful start in their automotive aftermarket career through the SEMA Loan Forgiveness Program since 2004. Every year, one employee of a SEMA member company is chosen to receive $2,000 toward outstanding student loan debt. For a chance at being the lucky one chosen, you must:
- Have completed a program of study at an accredited university, college, or private vocational/technical program in the United States, with a Graduate level degree, Bachelor’s degree, Associates degree or Certificate of Program Completion with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Have a minimum $2,000 outstanding student loans.
- Been employed full-time at a SEMA member company for at least one full year by the application deadline.
The automotive aftermarket industry is more than just a career trajectory, we are a community of passionate automobile enthusiasts looking for the next best innovators and leaders. The automotive world is trembling at the starting line of an industry revamp, from breakthroughs in design and manufacturing technology to a complete rethinking of the way we communicate with our customers. If you’re looking to become a part of the next generation of leading engineers, advertisers, marketers or manufacturers, we want you on our team.
If you’re looking to kick off your career or join a new and passionate team of enthusiasts, 4 Wheel Parts is hiring in a variety of capacities across North America. Send us your application now: http://transamericanautoparts.com/jobs.
