More Power for the F-150 Pre-RunnerDecember 21st, 2010 by admin
I’m running 37-inch BFG tires on my 2003 Ford F-150 Pre-Runner. I upgraded to 4.88 G2 ring and pinion gears in the differentials to give the 5.4 liter engine and the transmission some relief. Unfortunately, the larger tires threw off the speedometer, so I needed to fix that.
These later model Fords have an electric speedometer that requires a programmer to correct it. I went with the Edge CS Gas Evolution Programmer (EDG85150). The Evolution CS in-cab controller, monitor, and digital gauge display features a full-color, high-resolution 2.4-inch, button-controlled screen. It allows me to correct the speedometer, adjust my top speed, change my transmission shift points, and adjust the rev limiter. It has four power level settings for approximate power gains up to 40 HP and 38 ft-lbs of torque.
