Testing Out My Upgraded 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

March 26th, 2010 by admin

Last time I told you about the lifts, wheels, and tires that went into turning my basic 2008 Jeep Wrangler into a 7 foot beast. But before I could take it on the test run, there were a few more things I wanted to add:

Jeep Wrangler

• Smittybilt

– XRC Front Bumper
– XRC Rear Bumper
– XRC 8 Competition Winch
– XRC Rocker Guards
– Fire Extinguisher Mount
– Jack & Tire Deflators

• Viair compressor and tank kit
• Xenon flat fender flares
• Optima yellow top
• H3R fire extinguisher
• ARB speedy seal kit
• AIRAID intake
• AIRAID throttle body spacer
• Magnaflow exhaust
• Hypertech programmer

So maybe it was more than “a few” final upgrades…

I decided the best place to test the Jeep would be Hodge Rd in Barstow, California. I was able to rock climb Dezert Run and play in the sand. We left Friday, setup camp, and played all weekend. While we were out I must have covered 100 miles of beautiful California terrain. Since then I have been to dozens of other site including Gorman, Ocotillo Wells, Las Vegas, Yuma, and plenty more.

Since the very first trip I have not had a single failure with my lift, gears, or lockers but I have put a couple chunks in my tires. Guess those razor rocks like rubber.

  1. i have a question for anyone who knows. The pin that goes under the block on a lift kit and makes it sit on the axle straight snapped on my truck.where can i find one or how can i replace it with something else?

  2. If its on the block buy a new block, if its attached to the perch you will need to cut off and re-weld a new perch on.
