Upgrading Your Headlights to PIAA Xtreme White Plus BulbsOctober 15th, 2010 by admin
When it comes to headlights, people always say HID is the way to go. There are a lot of different aftermarket companies that now sell upgrade kits for your truck ranging from $50-$100. Some of the guys here at work have bought some of those kits and they look and work great, but I decided not to go in that direction.
Instead, I decided to just replace the bulbs. To me, it doesn’t feel right that an HID kit can only cost $50-$100 and who knows how long it will last. I have always used PIAA when it comes to replacing my bulbs. Every vehicle I own has a set of PIAAs on them. They have been around for years and make awesome products. My truck uses an H13 bulb and PIAA also makes an Xtreme white plus. This bulb does have a little blue/purple tint in it, which makes it look really nice at night.
Replacing your bulbs should not take you long at all – 5 minutes max, I would say. The key to installing your new bulbs is not to touch the lens at all because the oils in our fingers will cause the bulb to burn out days after you install it. If you do happen to touch the bulb, there’s no need to panic. All you need to do is get a cotton ball, dip it in some alcohol, and clean the area you touched. That will take care of it without damaging the bulb.
The technology that PIAA puts in their bulbs is just amazing. It’s a night-and-day difference in brightness compared to the yellow-looking bulbs the truck came with.
